HMB Review

It doesn’t make any sense to reinvent the wheel, especially when it comes to tried and true supplements. One such supplement is amino acids. Over the years, science has hashed out the main reason for the efficacy of this powerful muscle building supplement: Essential amino acids (those arent manufactured in the body and must be taken in by diet) are necessary ingredients for protein synthesis (anabolism or also known as muscle growth).

As far as hmb reviews go, recently the University of Connecticut (Farmington) teamed up with scientists from Spain and Finland to test the effects of a formulation that contained a stack of essential amino acids and B-hydroxy B-methylbutyrate (HMB) on hormonal and muscle damage markers in response to 12 weeks of resistance training. In this randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study, 17 men in their early to mid 20s were assigned to one of two groups and then followed a 12 week periodized, heavy weight training program.

During this time they supplemented (twice per day) and either an essential amino acid blend, along with HMB, or a placebo. The data revealed that both groups experienced significant increases in lean muscle mass, muscle strength and power; those who received the essential amino acids and HMB, however, gained approximately 7 kilograms (15 pounds) more bodyweight, and lost approximately 5% more bodyfat compared to the placebo group. But, that’s not all. The same group was noted to have also experienced greater gains in 1RM strength, higher testosterone and resting growth hormone concentration, and less muscle damage.  Hmb review.
